DOCTORS' DAY-March 30, 2019

Doctors' Day has been around longer than you might realize. The history of Doctors' Day dates back to the early 1930s. It was conceived by Eudora Brown Almond, a physician's wife in Georgia. She chose the date of March 30 because that is the anniversary of the day that surgical anesthesia was first administered to a patient.

The very first Doctors' Day in 1933 consisted of doctors' wives putting together a luncheon for the local physicians. This first observance included mailing greeting cards and placing flowers on graves of deceased doctors. The tradition of placing flowers on deceased doctor's grave is still practiced in the south. On October 30, 1990, President George Bush signed S.J. RES. #366 designating March 30th as "National Doctors' Day."

Sabetha Community Hospital Board of Directors, Administration and staff are pleased to work alongside such dedicated and talented doctors. Thank you Doctors - Kennally, Wenger, Longabaugh and Tramp for the trusted care provided to patients. Be sure and tell your doctor Happy Doctors' Day on March 30th.
